Karen Hilltribes Trust Kindness in Action: Relief for Karen Families

The devastation faced by the people in Ban Kophee and Ban Mae La Ka Tai Villages has meant more than 700 people were left without the most basic access to water, shelter and food. On top of this, the worry to survive the coming months, the trauma of such a terrifying event and their concern for other vulnerable people in their families left many villagers in a state of despair. You kindness in donating to our Emergency Appeal and in helping us support these villages cannot be understated. We are truly grateful and so are the people of Ban Kophee and Mae La Ka Tai.

In August, KHT supported the villages with temporary piped water systems. In September, KHT was able to distribute vital aid directly to the impacted villages, and we were able to do this thanks to your generosity and also the generosity and practical assistance of The Ford Fund. We are also grateful to our trustees and staff for working so hard to ensure we were ready and able to respond to help those most in need.

KHT and the Ford Fund worked together to distribute aid to support 702 people across the two villages. This includes providing 2000kg’s of rice, 500 blankets, dry foods supplies including dried fish, oil, noodles and sardines. We also distributed hygiene supplies, clothes and drinking water.
